RE: Fulltime for life?

We retired September 2007 and began living in our motorhome and traveling and volunteering. We LOVE it and wouldn't even consider stopping. We'll do this as long as we can and then Livingston, here we come!

RE: Birds we have seen from our campsite

I'm from the East and have seen many birds but now that I am in South Dakota, I'm amazed at the number of 'rare' birds I've seen. At our feeder alone we see dozens of Pine Siskins each day, Red-naped Sapsuckers, both Red- and White-breasted Nuthatches, Rose-breasted and Black-headed Grosbeaks, Lazuli Buntings, Juncos, Goldfinches, and Red Crossbills.

RE: Keeping warm in our motorhome

Thank you all for your replies. They are greatly appreciated. We have a cat and a bird and although the cat and Bill and I can take care of ourselves when it gets cold, the bird can't. We don't want her to freeze at night so we keep it a little warmer than it needs to be.
Question: we are looking into buying a Sungard Windshield Cover to try to keep the heat in. Has anyone ever used one? Any advice?

Keeping warm in our motorhome

DH and I are volunteering this winter at Hagerman NWR, in northern Texas near the Oklahoma border. It gets pretty cold and windy there in the winter. What can we do to keep our class A motorhome warm and toasty? Our storage areas are not heated. Should we insulate them? What should we do about the floors since they get quite cold in the winter?

RE: Are you changing your RV life because of the cost of gas?

Living full-time and traveling in our RV is a dream come true. There is NO WAY I will let the price of gas determine what I do.

RE: What I've learned so far about Full-time

I volunteer in a hot building with no air conditioning. Downstairs in the refrigerator, you can buy a can of soda for 2 quarters or a bottle of water for 3. So I save quarters for that as well as laundry.
Was_butnotnow, I howled at your experience! So familiar...
One of the things I've learned about fulltiming (in the 8 months we've been on the road) is that if you have a bad back, don't plan on baking much. And if you're a short person, watch out for that microwave! Get yourself a grill and learn how to cook everything on that. And a crock-pot, too.
